What is getTeachingIdeas all about anyway?
Like many ideas, getTeachingIdeas.com pays homage to the old axiom originally penned by Plato, "Necessity is the mother of invention." (more ...)
In several teaching capacities, Rick Forristall, was always amazed at the superb programs, techniques, approaches, strategies, projects and methods others in the teaching profession used to make stellar connections with their students. Be it a game, speaking technique, group activity, or special project or assignment, almost anything one can imagine to enhance the learning experience has been developed and implemented by another teaching professional.
Rick's wife is a preschool teacher who continually provides enriched, fun and playful learning tools for her students. Rick is always amazed at his wife's creative ways of helping preschoolers learn through a variety of teaching techniques and tools.
During times he's helped in his grandson's first grade class, he's been fortunate to observe the creation and implementation of some of those tremendous tools for enhancing the learning experience for that first grade class. Anyone who teaches young children can surely appreciate the challenges one faces in that teaching capacity.
So, Rick thought how cool it would be to have an exchange system where folks in the teaching profession (from pre-K through grade 8) can freely share their ideas for making a positive impact to the learning experience - thus he created getTeachingIdeas.com. Our first month online was May 2009.
